Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Challenge Series

The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon introduces the Challenge Series, which offers new options for runners and walkers who wish to challenge themselves! The Challenge Series is divided into four levels of varying difficulty and requires a 2-day commitment from participants:

  • 10K and Full Marathon
  • 10K and Half Marathon
  • 5K and Full Marathon
  • 5K and Half Marathon

*Please Note: The 10k has been moved to Saturday, May 16. There is no longer an 8k as part of the series.

To be included in the Challenge Series and receive its benefits, you must register under one of the four Challenge Series 2-Day Distance Combos. If you register individually for the 2 events, you will not be included in the Challenge Series.

You may run or walk in the Challenge Series. When you register, you will be asked to select the Running or Walking Division. Please choose at the time of registration. Walkers who participate in the Challenge Series will not be categorized in any of the Official Walking Divisions (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K).

 

 

Dates and Times

The Challenge Series spans two days (Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17). Participants who take on the challenge will be required to finish one event each day.

First event: Saturday, May 16 - Events include the 5K or 10K starting at 7:30 am at Superior Ave. and W. 3rd Street just west of Public Square, Downtown, Cleveland (Start and Finish).

Second event: Sunday, May 17 - Events include the full marathon or half marathon starting at 7:00 am at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse (formerly known as Quicken Loans Arena) and finishing at Superior Ave. and W. 3rd Street, just west of Public Square.

 

Benefits

Challenge Series  finishers will receive individual medals for each event, plus a challenge medal specific to their series. Challenge medals can be claimed on Sunday, May 17 in an area separate from the finish line at Public Square. After you exit the finish line corral, look for the Challenge Medal Tent, located on the north side of Superior.

Finishers will also receive two T-shirts (one for each event) and an exclusive gift. These items are to be picked up at the Health and Fitness Expo/Packet Pick-up on Friday, May 15.

There will be a post-race party on Public Square on both Saturday and Sunday. The celebration area features a beer garden, music, food and more! All series finishers will receive one free Great Lakes Brewing Co. beer or Tito's drink each day (21 and over only).

Packet Pick-up 

Pick up for the challenge series will be at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland on Friday, May 15 from 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm. If you cannot make it Friday, you may pick up ONLY your race bib on Saturday, May 16 beginning at 6:00 am at the registration tent on Public Square (near Soldiers and Sailors Monument).

After you finish, you may then pick up your challenge gift and participant shirts at the Health and Fitness Expo.
