Designed by Cleveland-based artist and ILTHY founder Glen Infante, the refreshed logo calls back to popular 1970s and 80s styling, while looking forward to the future with a bold refresh. “Glen is an incredibly accomplished artist and we were so pleased to be able to work with him to redesign the look and feel of the UH Cleveland Marathon,” said Race Director Ralph Staph. “From the race shirts, to the medals, and out on the course, you’re going to be seeing his design and influence all over race weekend this year and we’re really excited to share it with everyone from the runners, to the spectators, and the whole Cleveland community.” “Working on the Cleveland Marathon brand was special to me as a Cleveland artist and someone who participated in the event’s 5K,” said Infante. “ I drew inspiration from the original marathon designs from nearly 50 years ago. My goal was to give the branding a facelift while preserving its history and identity, something that feels fresh today, but still honors where it started.” Infante’s work will appear on 2027 race t-shirts, finisher medals, and the K&D Group Personal Record Bell Banner which sits proudly at the finish line waiting for runners to announce their best times. The new identity maintains some of the recognizable visual spirit of the race while introducing a bolder, contemporary design system. Key features include: The runner: a refreshed version of the iconic figure bringing energy, movement, and athleticism just like race participants The logo: an updated wordmark with a stronger, more modern presence Typography: updated fonts with a distinctive, athletic personality The 50th: integrating the historic year into the branding University Hospitals: remains an integral part of the race identity as the title sponsor The countdown to 50 has begun. The University Hospitals Cleveland Marathon will celebrate its historic 50th anniversary next year during race weekend, May 15 - 16, 2027.
