Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon Running and Walking Divisions

13.1 Miles running

Just like the marathon, the half marathon features a relatively fast and flat course, great volunteer support and a scenic view of downtown Cleveland and its major landmarks. The course has been designed for our athletes to enjoy views of Lake Erie and many other Cleveland highlights. The 13.1 mile course mirrors the first half of the marathon course. Half marathoners will turn off at that time, but finish at the same location as the marathoners.

All half marathon runners and walkers will receive a technical short-sleeved T-shirt, goody bag, virtual race bag and a finisher's medal.

Age Group and Overall Awards (Running Division)

The top three overall male and females PLUS the top three in each age group male and female will receive an award that will mailed post-race approximately 4-6 weeks after the event. There is no prize money in the half marathon.

13.1 Miles walking

In order to compete in the walking division, you will be expected to walk the entire distance; completion of the course is on the honor system. All half marathon walkers will receive a technical short-sleeved T-shirt, goody bag, virtual race bag and a finisher's medal.

Awards (Walking Division)

Top five overall male and females will get an award for the half marathon walking division. Awards will be mailed out 4-6 weeks after the race.

If you win an award and did not walk the entire route, you will be expected to inform the race officials in order to move you into marathon running division.

Half Marathon Course Time Limit

The Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon route is secured by City officials who are obligated to maintain traffic flow and re-open street closures within a reasonable and set time frame on race day. The half marathon course will be open for 4 hours beginning at 7:00 a.m.

All half marathon participants, both runners and walkers, must be at various checkpoints along the route in order to maintain the proper pace to ensure completing within the 4-hour time frame. Please note that the 4-hour time limit is based upon clock time, not chip time. Participants must maintain the scheduled time/pace per mile at various locations. If you cannot maintain the time, our recovery vehicle will pick you up and shuttle you to the finish line. Should you wish to continue, you will be directed to move to the sidewalk for the duration of the route.
