Prayers From Maria

Prayers From Maria was inspired by the prayers of seven-year-old Maria McNamara, who lost her battle against a brain stem glioma in 2007. While Maria was receiving treatment at St. Jude, she prayed for other sick children that she met, hoping the doctors would find a way to help them and make them better. Prayers From Maria, founded by Maria’s parents Ed and Megan McNamara of Avon Lake, Ohio, is dedicated to answering Maria’s prayers by funding global research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for the deadliest childhood brain tumors and bringing hope to children and families who deal with the disease’s hardships. Our Planting Hope sunflower garden in Avon, Ohio, has attracted thousands and elevated awareness and fundraising for childhood brain cancer research. Our most recent $250,000 grant to Case Western Reserve University is funding cutting edge research exploring the use of nanotechnology to more effectively and less toxically treat children’s brain tumors.

Our marathon team, known as the Sunflower Striders, has raised over $100,000 in research dollars by participating in 10 marathons over the past 6 years. Participation in the Cleveland Marathon alone has raised over $65,000. Please support our team by either joining it, or by making a donation.

FMDSA

The Fibromuscular Dysplasia Society of America (FMDSA) has become the recognized leader in the support of Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD) awareness, education and research. We achieved our goal by successfully raising funds for the purpose of awarding FMD research grants, building awareness programs, and educating the public and medical community. Fibromuscular dysplasia causes your arteries to form abnormally creating areas of narrowing or stenosis.  First diagnosed in 1938, there is still no known cause or cure for FMD.  90% of patients are women and headache and high blood pressure are two of the most common symptoms of the disease. FMD can lead to arterial dissections, aneurysms, stroke and death.

Pcrfteampalestine

Team Palestine for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund

The Palestine Children's Relief Fund was established in 1992 by concerned humanitarians in the USA to bring injured and sick children for free medical care they could not get locally. Since then, we have sent over 2,000 sick and injured children for free medical care, and sponsored hundreds of volunteer medical teams from all over the world to treat tens of thousands of sick and injured youths in local hospitals. PCRF also has built two pediatric cancer departments in Palestine and has several major programs (including pediatric cancer, cardiac surgery, mental health and amputee programs) that support the development of a sustainable health-care system there. We are a grassroots organization depending on the support of thousands of volunteers all over the world to help us achieve our humanitarian mission. We envision a world where all children in the Middle East have access to quality medical care, regardless of nationality, religious or political affiliation.

We are also proud that our charity has earned six consecutive 4-star ratings from Charity Navigator. This is the highest possible rating and indicates that our organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient and transparent way.

Foundry Logo Stacked Solid Anvil

The Cleveland Foundry

The Cleveland Foundry is a Community Rowing and Sailing Center dedicated to transforming the lives of young people in the Northeastern Ohio region by providing access to the sports of rowing and sailing.

Both sailing and rowing have historically been exclusive sports, open only to those with financial means and access to the resources needed to participate. The Foundry aims to change this narrative by providing safe and inclusive programming to young people of all backgrounds.

Engaging youth in the sports of rowing and sailing helps to promote health and fitness; supports development of non-cognitive skills such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance; exposes students to scholarship and career opportunities; and provides access to two of our region’s most valuable natural assets: Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River.

The Row. Sail. Dream. outreach program connects youth of all experience levels, from the novice to the serious athlete, to the resources they need to be successful in the sports of rowing and sailing, including swimming lessons, STEM education, and supporting participation on the Foundry’s in-house rowing and sailing teams.
