12.6.12 - Sponsorships Available for 36th Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon

Home Team Marketing to coordinate sponsorships for race of 20,000

CLEVELAND (Dec. 6, 2012) - The 36th Annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon is offering businesses the opportunity to get involved with one of Cleveland's largest sporting events. Through one of five levels of sponsorships available, businesses can expect to reach thousands of runners, supporters and spectators who attend marathon weekend events on May 18 and 19 for the 2013 "Cleveland Experience."

More than 20,000 athletes are expected to compete in 2013, and statistics from last May's race show that about 84 percent of marathon participants are native Ohioans. Another eight percent accounts for those from New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Canada, while the remainder is comprised of many other states and countries.

"With a 300 percent increase in participation over the past nine years, the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon has become an outstanding opportunity for organizations to make an impression on a health-conscious, educated and affluent audience of runners," said Ralph Staph, race director for the Cleveland Marathon. "Our runners overwhelmingly show support for the companies who support the race."

Predetermined benefits for the Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsorships allow potential sponsors to weigh their options. In addition to these packages, the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon works with interested companies on customizing sponsorship benefits to fit specific needs. Another perk for sponsors is the Health and Fitness Expo held Friday and Saturday before the race where they can interact with the participants as well as their families and friends.

To handle many of the aspects of sponsor services, the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon has teamed up with Home Team Marketing, an integrated marketing and multimedia solutions company with well-known clients throughout the country. This Cleveland-founded business will act as the newly appointed Official Sponsor Services Representative for the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon in 2013.

"Although our organization has grown nationwide, HTM started in Cleveland, and we will always be proud of that fact. Since 2001, the company has had an athletic focus, offering revenue-generating opportunities for individual high school and state associations. The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon will not be Home Team Marketing's first instance of working with the city's athletic community. For the past few years, HTM has hosted the annual Charity Game at Cleveland Browns Stadium, and it also gives back to the community through both the Cleveland Browns Foundation and the Cleveland Food Bank, among others. Serious sponsorship for the event began in 2003 when Rite Aid assumed the role of title sponsor for the Cleveland Marathon. Since then, the race has increased its participation every year, resulting in an all-time high of 20,008 runners, walkers and wheelchair racers in 2012.

One of the 50 oldest races in the country, the 2013 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon will take place May 18-19, 2013.
