    APDA was founded in 1961 with the dual purpose to Ease the Burden - Find the Cure for Parkinson's disease. As the country's largest Parkinson's grassroots organization, APDA is here to serve the more than one million Americans with Parkinson's disease and their families through a nationwide network of Chapters, Information and Referral (I&R) Centers, and support groups.

    The Up Side of Downs

    Mission:  The mission of The Up Side of Downs is to provide support, education, and advocacy for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and communities.

    The goal of The Up Side of Downs is to Celebrate and Support Down Syndrome in Northeast Ohio.  USOD serves over 900 families in 16 counties through a wide variety of programs and services, as well providing access to an extended family for support who share in celebrating the abilities and accomplishments of all people with Down syndrome. 


    Our diverse programs include: Disability Awareness Presentations to area students and educators,  Educational Programs and Conferences for families, caregivers and educators; Family Grants for medical and recreational assistance; Support Groups for new and expecting parents, grandparents, DADS and parents of teens and adults; a wide variety of Social Programs for youth, teens and adults throughout the year; Medical Outreach to medical professionals in Northeast Ohio; a comprehensive Website with up-to-date resources; and Down syndrome awareness at our largest advocacy event each year at the Northeast Ohio Buddy Walk held in the summer and draws more than 4,000 participants.  For more information, please visit our website at www.usod.org.

    Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter (CCAS) is a temporary home for dogs that are lost or stray. CCAS is a government shelter and exists solely to serve the lost and stray dogs of Cuyahoga County.  CCAS is funded through the sale of dog licenses in the county which are intended to help return lost and stray dogs to their owners. We are an open admissions shelter and cannot turn anyway any lost dog found in our County regardless of temperament, behavior, age, health or breed.  Our mission is provide canine care and control, reunite lost pets and owners and ensure the safety and welfare of the community and animals through appropriate law enforcement and education.

    Akron Children’s Hospital’s Family Child Learning Center (FCLC) provides Early Intervention and Preschool programming for children with Autism. FCLC uses play-based responsive teaching to help children break through the challenges they face with speech delays, communication and social interaction and provides support for families by offering programs such as thePositive Parenting ProgramAutism touches 1 in 88 children in the US today.  Once faced with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum, the search is on for programs that will help your child and family move forward.  FCLC is one program in Northeast Ohio that has been changing lives since 1980!!     After deadly earthquakes in April 2015 in Nepal, team members of Mission Rebuild Nepal (MRN ) have been actively providing care and shelter to families affected by natural disaster. As of February 2016, they have already built 368 houses, additional 100 houses are under construction. They have a target of building 1000 houses. NAOO (Nepali American Organization of Ohio ) is helping to raise money for Mission Rebuild Nepal by collecting donation and organizing Cleveland marathon run.
