    Prayers from Maria Foundation

The Prayers From Maria Children’s Glioma Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding global research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for childhood brain tumors, known as gliomas. Because childhood gliomas are grossly underfunded, the foundation works diligently to make a difference by raising public awareness and bringing hope to children and their families who live with this disease. To date, the Foundation has awarded $200,000 in grants to desperately needed research.

The Prayers From Maria marathon team, the Sunflower Striders, has raised over $50,000 for glioma research since participating in their first Cleveland Marathon in 2010. This year we have set a team goal to raise $25,000.

We hope you will join the Sunflower Striders team and our mission to find a cure for gliomas! By joining the team you will receive training tips and fundraising support from a Prayers From Maria representative, as well as fun incentives for our top fundraisers. • Girls with Sole

    Girls with Sole

We at Girls With Sole combine fitness and wellness to empower the minds, bodies and souls of girls who have experienced abuse of any kind, or who are at-risk. We offer a large variety of fitness and wellness programs, including yoga, dance and traditional team sports to girls who need someone to believe in them so that they may believe in themselves. Many of these girls who have experienced abuse would otherwise have no place to participate in sports or group exercise in a safe environment, or have access to group athletics.

Focusing on healthy living, good nutrition, exercise and wellness will help girls make healthier choices in other parts of their lives - making a positive impact on our community as a whole.

With your help we have the potential to change the lives of girls through sports and fitness. The positive impact of girls playing sports is endless. From health benefits and self-esteem to learning life skills such as leadership and team work, it is clear that all these girls really need is a sporting chance! Please visit to learn about us, make a contribution of become part of TEAM LULA.

  • John Owen's Adventure

    John Owen's Adventure

John Owen’s Adventure (JOA), a non-profit dedicated to raising research dollars and awareness for the fatal genetic illness, Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

In JOA’s commitment to finding a cure for the thousands of boys battling Duchenne, the organization hosts an annual Picnic in the Park, attracting thousands of families, and hosts several smaller fundraisers throughout the year.

JOA was formed by Tony and Jen Dumm of North Royalton, OH and is named after their 9-year-old son John Owen who has Duchenne.  All proceeds are donated to the organizations such as Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy and the MDA, who work tirelessly to find a cure for DMD.

DMD is 100% fatal. DMD progressively wastes muscle and causes muscle weakness mainly in boys.  It begins with microscopic changes in the muscle. As muscles degenerate over time, the boy's muscle strength diminishes.  With DMD, ultimately the heart muscle will stop working.  Typically diagnosed between four to seven years, the seemingly ‘normal’ boy will show signs of weakness getting up from the floor and walking up stairs.  DMD robs his ability to walk, breathe and thrive.  JOA is determined to derail this muscle killer.  For more information on JOA visit
