Thinking Beyond Borders

Thinking Beyond Borders is a non-profit organization that takes graduating high school seniors around the world for 8 months to study the AIDS epidemic in South Africa, sustainable agriculture in India, public education in China, environmental conservation in Vietnam, and clean water issues in Ecuador. In each country, students live with families, work with local organizations, study with top professors, and meet with various politicians to develop a broad perspective of the issues. The goal is to attack global issues at the absolute seed by creating a new generation of leaders who understand how to investigate and solve complex global issues.

We believe that the next generation of leaders will come from a variety of ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and citizenships, and we strive to provide our educational program for everyone through the TBB Scholarship Fund. Every penny you raise will be used to support students in need. Please help by participating in this event and click here to donate or run on our behalf.

Arc of Greater Cleveland

Runners and walkers participating in the Cleveland Marathon races are challenged to go faster or farther than they ever have before. For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), every day is a challenge as they strive to live in a world that is not always understanding or supportive of their needs and their rights. The Arc of Greater Clevelandʼs mission is to empower persons affected by IDD through advocacy, education and the promotion of activities that improve quality of life. We are the only independent voice in the area fighting for equal rights and equal access to services for these individuals.

Our services include legislative advocacy and self-advocacy training, service coordination for housing and vocational programs, educational programs for parents and professionals to enhance their understanding of and ability to work with IDD individuals, and advocacy support for parents working to ensure the best education for their IDD children. We serve individuals and families impacted by autism, Asperger syndrome, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities and any developmental disability that impacts learning and development.

Your participation in the Cleveland Marathon races is a way to help you reach your full potential. When you run or walk in support of the Arc of Greater Cleveland, you will be helping individuals with IDD reach their full potential.
