Thinking Beyond Borders

Thinking Beyond Borders is a non-profit organization that takes graduating high school seniors around the world for 8 months to study the AIDS epidemic in South Africa, sustainable agriculture in India, public education in China, environmental conservation in Vietnam, and clean water issues in Ecuador. In each country, students live with families, work with local organizations, study with top professors, and meet with various politicians to develop a broad perspective of the issues. The goal is to attack global issues at the absolute seed by creating a new generation of leaders who understand how to investigate and solve complex global issues.

We believe that the next generation of leaders will come from a variety of ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and citizenships, and we strive to provide our educational program for everyone through the TBB Scholarship Fund. Every penny you raise will be used to support students in need. Please help by participating in this event and click here to donate or run on our behalf.

Runners Feeding Others is a community of runners, walkers, and supporters that participate in area races to raise donations for the food programs of First Grace in Akron, OH.  Through various programs, First Grace feeds over 25,000 people in Northeast Ohio each year and the donations raised through Runners Feeding Others are the main source of support for these activities.  The most unique of the programs at First Grace is the "People's Choice Food Pantry" which allows for the hungry to 'shop' for their food almost like they are in a grocery store with the exception being that there is no cost for the items that they receive.

Please consider joining our team for the Cleveland Marathon (and future races) by checking out our website and sending an email to steve@runnersfeedingothers.com. By joining our team you will be helping to feed those in our area (our neighbors and friends) that for whatever reason have found themselves in a situation where they are unable to provide food for themselves and their families.

The Fuller Center for Housing

The Fuller Center for Housing was started in 2005 by Millard Fuller, who also founded Habitat for Humanity, as a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. It promotes innovative partnerships in an unrelenting quest to provide adequate shelter for every person on the planet. A Fuller Center home is a hand up, and not a hand out, meaning that homeowners roll up their sleeves and work alongside volunteers, repaying construction costs on interest-free terms they can handle with no profit to The Fuller Center. One of the many ways

The Fuller Center for Housing reaches out to communities is through the annual Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure. The third-annual journey in summer 2010 will pass through Cleveland en route from Niagara Falls to New Orleans, as riders join for the whole way, a day, or a week long segment. Throughout this fully-supported summer cross-country ride, volunteers put down their bikes and pick up hammers to help local FC partners build and repair homes. This trip is not only a great adventure for the cyclists, it also raises funds and awareness for Fuller Center projects. Sounds interesting? Check out the Fuller Center website to find out how you can join in!

The Family Child Learning Center

The Family Child Learning Center (FCLC) provides Early Intervention and Preschool programming for children with Autism, as well as family support and resources, while collecting data for research and program development. Autism touches 1 in 100 children in the US today. Once faced with a diagnosis, the search is on for programs that will help your child and family move forward. FCLC is one program, local to Northeast Ohio that changes lives!

“We were introduced to FCLC by an Akron Children’s Hospital’s Speech Pathologist when our son, Joey, was diagnosed with Autism in 2007. Since that referral, we have been able to connect with the resources at FCLC and watch our son’s language and communication skills explode. FCLC has given Joey, and our family, the tools to overcome the daily challenges we face. Local resources are so few and far between and FCLC is Northeast Ohio’s ‘diamond in the rough’!!” – Melissa Cheney

The FCLC is sponsored by Akron Children's Hospital in conjunction with Kent State University. Click here to support Team FCLC.
